Oklahoma

Oklahoma treasures waiting to be found
Oklahoma was known as the bad lands or outlaw territory as well as the
Indian Territory. There were many outlaw gangs that would rob other places and
then return to the Oklahoma Territory to hide out. It is reasonable to believe
that many of the outlaws did hide their loot for safe keeping. If they were
killed
in the meantime, then not many would know about the hidden money. Those people
may or may not have had a chance to return to the hidden area. Much of the money
taken from banks and train robberies were never recovered.

Atoka County
Gold belonging to an Atoka cattleman is believed to be lost. No one knows if
he buried his gold for safety reasons or in fact lost the gold.
Blaine County
At Roman Nose State Park, near Watonga, the loot of
the Dalton and the
Black-Yeager Gangs
are said to be buried.
Choctaw County
An outlaw's treasure on Boggy Creek near Boswell awaits a
lucky discoverer.
Cimarron County
Kenton was once a center for
outlaws, and some stolen treasure
is still hidden in the area.
Comanche County

Cache has not been found.
An Army payroll was hidden
at Cache to
prevent capture by Indians.
Half a bushel of silver coins hidden by bandits on Holsum Valley
Road has never been found.
Creek County
The Dillon gang is said to have buried treasure in and around Mannford
as well as other places.
Hughes County
Treasure formerly the property of California emigrants, is supposedly hidden
on Fish Creek near the old Edwards Post south of Holdenville.
Latimer County
Robber's Cave State Park, near Wilburton offers obvious
possibilities. Robber's Cave got its name from its alleged association with the
Jesse James gang, Belle Starr, Cole Younger, and other outlaw groups.
Le Flore County
An unknown amount of Silver dollars were lost near Summerfield.
Mayes County
Robber Henry Starr's stolen loot may be cached near Rose and Pryor.
Muskogee County
Joe Vann's treasure on the site of his old mansion
at Webbers Falls has been talked about, but not found.
Murray County
The lost gold of Fort Arbuckle, on or near the old Fort Sill Military
Reservation, is still missing. The legend tells of an army paymaster and
his military escort bound for Fort
Arbuckle was being killed by outlaws on Mill Creek near Davis. Most of the
outlaws
were also killed, but one, a Mexican, managed to bury the loot before escaping.
Osage County
Treasure from Captain Golden's wagon train was hidden at Big Caney Creek
south of Artillery Mound near Boulanger.
Pawnee County
An Army paymaster's cache may be hidden at Twin Mounds near Jennings.
Payne County
Treasure in the ghost town of Ingalls east of Stillwater
awaits the discoverer.
Pushmataha County
A tin container full of money was buried near Darwin.
There was evidence where searchers
had dug several holes looking for the treasure. The first treasure hunter search
that the property residents can recall was in the late 1940s. No one has said they have found
anything to date.
The safe taken from the Kosoma train on Buck Creek near Antlers has been missing for a long time.
$50,000 in gold coins is said to be hidden near Rattan at Seven Devil
Mountain, this being from the loot of a bank robbery. The bandit was hanged,
but not before giving directions to where the coins were cached. However,
later attempts to locate the coins proved futile.
Glass jars containing $58,000 or more in coins were
hidden near the Sulphur Canyon Bridge near Clayton.
Sequoyah County
Charles ("Pretty Boy") Floyd's loot hidden near Sallisaw
may still be there. Floyd would hide out between crimes in towns near the the
one in which he had grew up and he was protected by the locals. He was killed on
October 22, 1934 in Ohio and Floyd was buried in Akin, Oklahoma.
Tulsa County
Loot of the Dalton gang was hidden in various locations around the state
including in caves at Sand Springs. Dozens of rumors exist, but little in the
way of facts.
Northeastern Oklahoma
Counties
There are many stories of Jesse James' loot being hidden in the
state. Since the James gang came from Missouri, many people believe that they
hid out in the Nation during a cooling off period from robberies.
Panning For Gold
Are you an outdoor enthusiast? Do you like to hike and explore nature and wild
life areas? If you do, why don't you take up gold panning as a hobby? You can
get the whole family involved in it.
Panning for gold is the most common, and least expensive method for recovering
gold. Look around springs, creeks and rivers especially in the gravel beds. In
the
mountains where there are water run offs that may open the earth to what is
underneath.
All you need is a gold pan and little else to put you in business. Carry your
supplies in a back pack along with your survival needs. To order your gold pan,
see
the banner below.
